Most of this website has focused on spiritual practices, avoiding, as it were, any specific theological content. This was important to me as a spiritual director. Over the years, however, I have become increasingly interested in helping people who have become “unchurched,” who have been hurt by the church and have left, who have been bewildered by the doctrines and dogmas that are presented without much explanation. I have decided to offer some brief suggestions to people who struggle with belief, who want to believe, but to believe responsibly – in other words to “skeptics.”
I will be publishing brief essays on various topics related to traditional Christianity in an effort to offer some support for those who doubt, who question, who are skeptical. I am not doing “apologetics”! I myself consider myself a skeptic – or a “responsible believer”. I certainly do not believe I have answers, but I can offer the fruit of my own journey of exploration. If any of this helps, take it! If not, set it aside.
