Meditation

Spiritualpractice 14

Christian meditation is very simply the practice of hearing God’s word for you and following it. In meditation we grow familiar with Jesus and we live in the continuous presence of God. What happens in meditation is that we create the emotional and spiritual space which allows Christ to take residence in us. It is not too exaggerated to say that meditation is communication between the Lover and the one beloved. Forms of Christian meditation are as varied – Benedictine, Ignatian, Carmelite, Franciscan – as have been the personalities of Christian mystics throughout the centuries.
